Fantastisch wat je doet! Er zijn heel veel mensen die jou volgen, zowel uit België als uit de rest van de wereld! All the best to you and the crew! Go go go!

So cool to cheer you on tonight at Waiake Beach. We were tracking you to find you. The grandchildren said it was like the Hunted TV programme.😉 ...Go Karel and team

Closest official camp spot is Takapuna Holiday park

But I’ve also text a friend there to see if they have space.

Does anyone want minor amendments to the path? I have a small one, a 128m deviation to the left in Palmerston North due to a padlocked cemetery gate.

Very cool to watch your progress. In awe of your efforts

It is so Nice to read how warm and enthusiastic the New Zealand people welcome and support our Super Belgian team Karel and crew. You’ll have a special place in their hearts forever that is for sure ❤️

Looks like he's on the move now. I know this area well. Tide going out now.. About 2 hours to low tide - https://www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Orewa-Beach/tides/latest

I'm guessing too dangerous, or not allowed to swim the 3? km section.
Ross Nixon, January 21, 2025 4:04 AM
For those interested, according to the NIWA tides website, low tide is at 7.38pm NZ time, which is 7.38AM Belgian time (for all other timezones you'll need to do your own maths).

You have an audacious plan! So interesting to watch (on the phone). I was hoping to give you a cheer as you run near our place in Takapuna but it seems your dot is stuck at 10.05am? Wishing you all the luck and then some more :)

Hope the low tide crossing (and the weather!) doesn't affect your flow too much - epic effort so far!
Chris, January 20, 2025 10:49 PM

Andy, January 20, 2025 10:45 PM
It's an awful day for running - hope you're able to stay warm. You'll be running past our house later today. Will give you a wave :)
Steve, January 20, 2025 10:40 PM
Oh no, shame you missed low tide!! Hope the time to rest & eat super powers you for rest of the day 😉Am enjoying watching your dot move along the trails I know so well
Rae, January 20, 2025 10:38 PM
Thanks for your update re the low tide crossings, was wondering why your dot was stationary while the rest of the crew was somewhere completely else. Hope you get to enjoy your rest and can make up on time lost (if you're not ahead of schedule already). See you in Wellington!!!
Karen - Wellington (NZ), January 20, 2025 10:33 PM
Hi Karel, just read your story on Stuff here in Vancouver - best of luck for the rest of your trip!

Mary, January 20, 2025 10:06 PM
Kia kaha, hope you're getting to taste some delicious kiwi food and coffee along the way too. Hopefully a few of us Wellington runners will see you once you reach the windy capital :)
Ella, January 20, 2025 9:47 PM
We mistimed one of the low tide crossings. We're going to wait for low tide and then I'll continue running. It'll be a couple of hours.
Karel , January 20, 2025 9:29 PM
